To: All Worshipful Masters and Brethren Hamilton District A.

MasoniCHIP is one of our Grand Master’s initiatives, based on the theme “Masonry Making a Difference”, was officially started in our jurisdiction in September of 2007.  As of August 2008, there have been just over 7000 Child Identification Kits provided “free of charge”, to Caring Parents.

MasoniCHIP was originally allocated $25,000 by Grand Lodge to purchase 10 Laptop Computers costing approximately $3000 each.  This has now grown to 40 machines, the balance of funding coming from donations within and without the Masonic Fraternity.  Hamilton District A held one of the first Clinics in September of  2007 at the Milton Fall Fair, wherein 307 Child Identification Kits were processed in 2 days.  To date this remains the largest number of Kits processed at any one clinic.

Further clinics have been held with Hamilton District A by the Oakville Lodges (Oakville No 400, Claude M. Kent No 681 and Trafalgar No 712), Campbell Lodge No. 603 for the second time and Dundurn Lodge No 475, processing 111, 67 and 87 Kits respectively.

Milton Fall Fair is again scheduled for a Clinic on September 27th and 28th.  Volunteers are urgently required as the numbers should again be very large, so please lets hear from you.  Training will be supplied as required.

Many Volunteers which include spouses, friends and neighbours, who have received their Criminal Record Checks (CRC) from their local Police Authority, regularly participate.  Although it can be hard work, there certainly is a feeling of satisfaction in providing this worthwhile service for our Children and Grandchildren.

This year, 2008-2009, Frank (Robin) Haighton is the District Chair of MasoniCHIP for Hamilton A District, appointed by our District Deputy Grand Master, R. W. Bro. Peter Lyles.  In addition Hamilton District B and C have also appointed District Chairs of MasoniCHIP as this program continues to develop.

I would ask the Hamilton District Masters and their Lodges for support and participation for the forth coming Masonic Year, and in the future, as this program does reflect very positively upon our Masonic Fraternity.

For further details of what is entailed in a MasoniCHIP Clinic, a Sponsoring Lodge and/or Participating Partner, please contact me at (905) 335 5892 or email fhaighton@cogeco.ca and I’ll surely be pleased to personally discuss.

Sincerely and Fraternally
W. Bro. Robin Haighton
